Barack Obama and Joe Biden

The Mojave Desert Democratic Club
provides a voice for Democrats in Barstow, Fort Irwin, Newberry Springs, Yermo, Daggett, Lenwood, Hinkley and surrounding communities.

As individuals, it is difficult to make a difference, but it is amazing what a small group of determined people can accomplish! If you are a Democrat who wants to make a difference, you will want to consider membership in the Mojave Desert Democratic Club.

The club meets once a month for a breakfast meeting and provides a forum in which members can discuss local, state and national political issues. Candidates

for offices ranging from City Council to Congress often speak at the meetings during election seasons. The club also mobilizes volunteers and resources during elections and provides networking opportunities for local Democratic candidates.

In recent years, the club has prospered under the leadership of President Larry Halstead, a dedicated Democratic activist. In 2009, community activist and Planning Commissioner Carmen Hernandez is taking the reins, and the club members are pleased to have another hardworking president who will provide strong leadership.

The Club has been in existence since 1969.
